Namaste

I remember the occasion of this photo very well. The photographer asked me to look straight into the camera and say “thank you” to my Mum. Being a shy boy at the age of seven without much to say, I just smiled and clasped my hands together… ‘Namaste’ Mum!

Yeah well, I have no memory of this at all! I’m certainly not saying thank you to my dear Mum. Mum was brought up in a catholic family and Dad was not. I do remember Sunday mornings, Dad would drive Mum, Anne and me to St John’s Church in New Ferry and wait in the car for an hour while we would sit, stand, kneel and sing (not me!) and give thanks and bow heads. I stopped going when I was about fourteen or fifteen. It wasn’t for me. But it was for my Mum as it is for so many people. That’s all I’ve got to say about that!

But just look at that jacket and how happy I look! I haven’t looked that smart and happy until twenty five years ago when Sarah and I got married! My taste in jackets hasn’t changed! I look as happy as my Dad, but we are wearing very different jackets!

Namaste 🙏

Thank you!

  1. Do you remember this photo Anne or Rob? Is it a first communion or confirmation or am I really just saying thanks to Mum for buying me a really smart jacket? Maybe just tell me I'm saying thank you! 😂 I think I look about seven.
