I visited Port Sunlight village with my wife Sarah in August 2013. Here is a selection of photographs from our visit that show what a lovely place it is and how lucky I was to grow up there!

Sunlight from the Nilgiris

I must find time to visit Port Sunlight soon and go see Mum & Dad. I’ve not been for awhile. Things never change, Dad will be in his chair the whole time and Mum will be constantly in and out of the kitchen making us tea!

“Can you get out all those old black & white photos of India Mum. Who’s that and when was it taken and where? Tell me that story again Dad, about when you....”

I’ve looked at those old photos so many times and I’ve listened to Dad’s stories over and over again. I must sit down with Mum & Dad and make notes of who is in those old photos, very few have anything written on the back. Yes, I’ll do that soon....

My dear Mother passed away this year, she was 90. Dad died in 2009 when he was 85. I now have a box full of old memories, photographs and letters but not many names, dates or places. I hope this blog will help put that right.

In 1946 Mum & Dad got married in India. Mum was born there and Dad went over with the army. That same year, they sailed over to England. Harry was returning home to Port Sunlight from the Nilgiris with his new wife Nancy.

I've created this blog so I can tell their story and share it with family and friends. With plenty of old photographs, letters, and happy memories & stories, I’m sure Harry & Nancy’s story will be of interest to all who knew them and even those that didn’t. I hope you enjoy your visit.
